Altium Nexus server-side data management, process management, and collaboration capabilities are all safely hosted in the cloud, simplifying installation and setup procedures, and reducing the cost of maintaining your PCB design system.
PCB design functionality is provided on more traditional desktop clients connected to the NEXUS cloud service, thus optimizing application responsiveness in graphics and PCB intensive I/O design environments.
Altium Nexus Features
The NEXUS Process Manager provides a set of predefined templates for common workflows, including project initialization, component requests and design reviews. These processes can be used as they are, or can be easily modified using a visual process editor that suits your unique workflow. New workflows can also be built from scratch using an easy-to-use “drag and drop” method.
NEXUS includes a component library that can be configured with standard content. Add or import your own components, packages, schematic symbols and models to easily build a library of common components that can be shared between work groups, teams, or entire companies, and implement access controls based on users and roles.
Design data management
NEXUS creates the perfect balance of creativity and control for organizations and projects that involve large numbers of people. NEXUS has a configurable design release process installed that ensures that proper design reviews, approvals, and reviews are completed before PCB design is released to other departments in the organization.
Altium Designer compatibility
NEXUS and Altium Designer designs are 100% compatible, so they can be shared with confidence between internal and external collaborators with confidence. In addition, NEXUS has a “vault data compatibility mode” that allows your existing Altium Vault server to connect seamlessly to NEXUS clients.
NEXUS includes connectors for PTC Creo and Solidworks. Combined with the leading NATIVE 3D design technology at Altium, Altium can achieve seamless and comfortable collaboration with MCAD designers. This allows mechanical and electronic designers to work together to ensure that electronic functions are coordinated with mechanical matching, thereby reducing design duplication due to “uncomfortable communication between partitions.”
NEXUS can publish design content to Arena PLM and PTC Windchill, connect to company workflows involving non-engineering technicians, and easily adapt to your product development infrastructure.
Review and mark collaborations
The NEXUS web-based tagging and commenting function provides an easy and convenient platform for everyone on the team to ask questions or express opinions about design intentions and specific details. There are no complicated downloads or installations, no need to learn PCB tools – this feature can be used in any web browser.

Altium Nexus 3.1.11 build 64 Install Instruction
- Install Altium Designer 18 (x64) or Altium NEXUS.
- Copy shfolder.dll to the folder where the executable module is located: X2.EXE
usually here: C:\Program Files\Altium\AD18\ or C:\Program Files\Altium\NEXUS2
- Launch the application and use the supplied “correct” licenses.
Naturally, you can generate / edit your licenses,
using attached as templates.
